Weather forecast engineer, in charge of short-range, medium-range, and numerical weather forecasts.
1979-1983: Ph.D. study at Imperial College of Science and Technology, London University, U.K.
1983-1984: Visiting scientist at ECMWF, Reading, England.
1985-now: Professor, IAP, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
1989-1991: Senior Visiting Research Professor at GFDL/AOS Program, Princeton University, New Jersey, USA.
1993-2000: Director, National Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics

Research Field: Weather and climate dynamics, including numerical modeling and data diagnosis.
Mentoring: Mentor to 25 post- graduate students since 1980’s, and 7 Post- Doctorate. At present, co-advisor with 4 professors and three associate professors to 12 Ph. D. students and 2 M. Sc. Students.
Orientation for Post- Graduate program: Diagnosis, theoretical study and modeling on:
1. Land- air- sea interaction and the Asian monsoon activities;
2. Orography effects on weather and climate;
3. Subtropical weather and climate. |
